We specialize in method puppy raising for sound temperament and intelligence.
The objective of our breeding program is to produce structurally sound, healthy dogs with true golden temperament. Environment plays an important role in providing a lasting affect on your puppy's personality, attitude, and intelligence. Ultimately this determines how your puppy will behave and interact with you in his new home. Thus during the 8 weeks the puppies are with us, they are nurtured and socialized with an emphasis on producing strong, healthy puppies as family companions.
The care of our puppies begin with exceptional care of the Sire and Dam. Genetic screenings with certification to confirm the parents are free of common, breed specific genetic disorders that could potentially impact the future offspring is foremost. Certification is obtained through The Orthopedic Foundations for Animals www.offa.org or University of Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program for hips and The Canine Eye Registration Foundation www.vmdb.org/cerf.html for eyes. Ensuring the health of our Dam before and during pregnancy increases the likelihood of producing genetically sound offspring. Vaccinations are current, and intrauterine influences on early embryological development are carefully monitored. Proper diet, exercise and conditioning is an important factor in pregnancy. During the fourth and fifth week of pregnancy the protein and carbohydrate intake is increased. This is due to the fact the energy requirement exceed the nutritional requirements of her normal ration. Ultrasound is performed 28 days after mating to ensure the safety of the mother and babies.

The length of gestation ranges from 57 to 72 days, with most puppies being whelped at an average of 65 days. Our puppies are whelped in our home, with a family member or two at hand. Once the puppies are born, they are cleaned, weighed and marked. Freshly made chicken broth is offered to our Dam, with loving encouragement. Our commitment and interaction begins at birth with the gentle handling of each puppy to foster trust and the human bond.
We start our puppies off by implementing the Bio Sensor, or Super Dog Program developed by the U.S. Military. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects. Their studies confirmed that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results. The first period involves a window of time that begins the third day of life and last until the sixteenth day. It is believed that because this interval of time is a period of rapid neurological growth and development and therefore is of great importance to the individual puppy. The handling of each puppy daily by performing five specific exercises produces neurological stimulation none of which naturally occur during this early period of life. Five benefits have been observed in canines that were exposed to the Bio Sensor stimulation exercises:
1. Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate)
2. Stronger heart beats
3. Stronger adrenal glands
4. More tolerance to stress
5. Greater resistance to disease
In test of learning, stimulated pups were found to be more active and were more exploratory than their non-stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations.
Additionally we provide play socialization by adding stimuli (toys) and textures to the puppies life. Problem solving is encouraged by placing barriers in puppy play yard.

As the dominance order emerges the first temperament test is administered at five weeks. Once the puppies begin emptying their bowels and bladder away from the litter box, housetraining is begun. Weather permitting, puppies explore our Puppy Playground.
Each puppy gets lots of individual attention from our family. Music is played and household sounds and distractions are prominent in the pup’s daily routine. Daily brushing, and weekly nail trims continue the human bonding
Determination of puppy placement is at the discretion of the breeder. Choices are determined between 6 and 7 weeks, based on the order in which your deposit was received.
At eight weeks the puppies have their current immunizations, and are ready to become an important member of your family.
